In Term 2, Sri Bestari International School takes a purposeful shift away from traditional end-of-term examinations for selected year levels, replacing them with EduVenture — a cross-disciplinary learning experience designed to make education more meaningful, relevant, and connected to the real world.
EduVenture brings together students from Early Years to Year 5, as well as Years 7 and 8, guiding them through a carefully structured learning journey – culminating in an exhibition of learning evidence rather than a single paper-based assessment.
Rather than learning subjects in isolation, students explore local and global issues through integrated learning across English, Mathematics, Science, Global Perspectives, Arts and ICT. Each EduVenture cycle is framed around a challenge question linked to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), encouraging students to think deeply about real-world problems and their role within them.
What makes EduVenture especially powerful is the emphasis on student voice, choice, and ownership. Students are guided to work both individually and collaboratively, applying subject-specific skills to investigate issues, propose solutions, and take genuine action. Learning becomes coherent rather than fragmented, and students begin to see how knowledge connects across disciplines and contexts.
The programme unfolds over several weeks, beginning with concept unpacking and subject integration, followed by reflection, field experiences, and preparation for exhibition. Educational visits — such as trips to the Forest Research Institute Malaysia, National Science Centre, Planetarium Negara, and innovation hubs like MRANTI and Asia Pacific University — deepen understanding by connecting classroom learning to lived experiences.
EduVenture concludes with an internal exhibition and a parent-inclusive exhibition, where students confidently present their learning, reflections, and outcomes. This final stage reinforces communication skills, critical thinking, and self-confidence — qualities that cannot be fully measured through examinations alone.
At its core, EduVenture reflects our belief that learning should be meaningful, relevant, and empowering. By shifting the focus from memorisation to understanding, from answers to inquiry, and from pressure to purpose, students are given the space to grow not just academically, but as thoughtful, engaged learners.
