As we welcomed the Lunar New Year at Sri Bestari International School, our campus was transformed into a vibrant tapestry of red and gold — colours symbolising prosperity, happiness, and renewed hope. The celebration was not merely a festive occasion, but a meaningful learning experience that brought our entire community together in the true spirit of reunion.
Throughout the day, our students immersed themselves in the rich traditions of Chinese New Year. From captivating cultural performances and rhythmic drum presentations to festive decorations thoughtfully prepared across the school, every detail reflected teamwork, creativity, and pride. It was especially heartening to witness students confidently taking the stage, demonstrating not only talent but also a growing appreciation for the heritage and values behind the celebration. Their enthusiasm and respect for the traditions reminded us that cultural understanding is best nurtured through active participation.
Cultural celebrations such as Chinese New Year provide authentic opportunities for our students to develop global-mindedness, empathy, and respect for diversity. Beyond the performances, a variety of interactive activities were thoughtfully organised around the school grounds. Students eagerly took part in traditional-inspired games such as the chopstick-and-marble challenge, testing their dexterity and focus, as well as festive puzzle stations that encouraged problem-solving and teamwork. The calligraphy booth allowed students to appreciate the artistry and symbolism of Chinese characters, while arcade-style game booths added an element of joy and friendly competition. These hands-on experiences brought learning to life in a way that was both engaging and meaningful.
The reunion theme served as a timely reminder of gratitude — for family, friendships, teachers, and the supportive community that surrounds us.
