Some moments stay with you a little longer — and this past month at SBIS has been exactly that.
Throughout Ramadan, our school community came together in ways that went beyond the classroom. It began with a simple act of giving — a Donation Drive in support of Rumah Titian Kasih and several other homes. What followed was an outpouring of generosity from our students and families, each contribution thoughtfully prepared and given with care. Boxes filled with essential items lined our collection area, but more than that, they reflected something deeper — empathy, awareness, and a shared sense of responsibility towards others.
That spirit of giving carried forward into one of the most meaningful highlights of the month — our Buka Puasa gathering, held together with Sri Bestari Private School. The day began quietly in the morning, with teachers and staff working side by side to prepare Bubur Lambuk, a tradition that brought with it a sense of familiarity and togetherness. These were later distributed to nearby surau, petrol stations, and members of the surrounding community — small gestures that extended the spirit of Ramadan beyond our school gates.
As evening fell, the atmosphere shifted into something more reflective. We welcomed children from Rumah Titian Kasih into our school, where the programme began with a Khatam Quran session and a meaningful sharing on the significance of Nuzul Quran. It was a calm and grounding moment, offering space for reflection amidst the busyness of the day.
And then, in the simplest but most meaningful way, we broke fast together.
There were no grand gestures — just shared meals, quiet conversations, and genuine laughter. Students, teachers, and guests sat side by side, creating a sense of belonging that needed no explanation. The evening continued with prayers and the presentation of donations, before coming to a gentle close.
As we welcomed the Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebrations, the school came alive once again — this time with colour, energy, and joy. Students and teachers arrived dressed in elegant traditional attire, transforming the campus into a vibrant celebration of culture and heritage.
Across the school, students explored a variety of cultural experiences through hands-on activities and Kembara Budaya stations. From traditional games like tuju guli and ketingting, to coconut bowling that brought out both laughter and friendly competition, every activity carried a sense of discovery. Beyond the games, students also enjoyed a spread of traditional Hari Raya favourites — from lemang and rendang to kuih onde-onde — experiencing the flavours and traditions that make this celebration so special.
What made the day truly memorable was not just the activities, but the atmosphere — one of openness, curiosity, and shared appreciation. It was learning that felt alive, rooted in experience rather than explanation.
More than just a series of events, this season was about connection — to one another, to our wider community, and to values that matter. It was a reminder that education is not only about what happens in the classroom, but also about the moments that shape who we are.
