At Sri Bestari International School (SBIS), every aspect of our identity is thoughtfully shaped by our vision to nurture globally minded learners. In conjunction with our 8th Anniversary celebration last July (2025), we were proud to unveil a meaningful milestone in our school’s journey — our official Chinese name, 博思国际学校 (Bó Sī Guó Jì Xué Xiào).
This introduction marks not only a moment of celebration, but also a reflection of how far we have come as a growing and evolving school community. Our 8th Anniversary was a significant occasion that celebrated the growth, achievements, and spirit of SBIS since its founding. As we honoured our journey, it was also an opportunity to look ahead — to strengthen our identity and deepen our connection with the diverse community we serve. The unveiling of our Chinese name during this celebration symbolises both reflection and progression — a step forward as we continue to expand our global outlook.
As an international school in Malaysia, we embrace cultural diversity as a cornerstone of our identity. The introduction of an official Chinese name allows us to strengthen our connection with Mandarin-speaking families to reflect the importance of Mandarin within our academic programme, enhance our global presence and accessibility, and celebrate the multicultural fabric of our school community. At SBIS, language is not just a medium of communication — it is a bridge that connects people, cultures, and ideas.
The name 博思 (Bó Sī) has been carefully selected for both its meaning and its phonetic connection to “Bestari.” The character 博 (Bó) represents extensive learning and broad knowledge, reflecting our commitment to academic depth and holistic education. The character 思 (Sī) represents thought, creativity, and innovation — qualities we strive to nurture in every Bestarian. Together, 博思 embodies the idea of thoughtful innovation grounded in knowledge, aligning closely with our mission to develop learners who think critically, act purposefully, and lead with confidence.
In addition to its meaning, 博思 (Bó Sī) has been chosen for its simple and memorable pronunciation, with a subtle phonetic resemblance to “Bestari.” It is also a name commonly associated with educational contexts, making it both relevant and appropriate within the academic landscape. The full name, 博思国际学校, translates directly to Sri Bestari International School, where 国际 (Guó Jì) signifies “International” and 学校 (Xué Xiào) represents “School.” Together, the name reflects our identity as a forward-thinking international institution rooted in strong educational values.
At SBIS, our motto — “We Learn, Lead & Inspire” — continues to guide everything we do. Our Chinese name, 博思国际学校, is a natural extension of this ethos — one that was meaningfully introduced during our 8th Anniversary as a symbol of both our journey and our future.
